Amphora Wine Log is a powerful application that is used to track and manage the winemaking process. It is a winemaking log with advanced data storage, management, and presentation capabilities.

Amphora Wine Log is very sophisticated software, yet is very simple to use, and has features that the most advanced winemaker will appreciate, such as user-defined database queries, reports, and charts.

Amphora Wine Log has been designed to appeal and be accessible to both the home and professional winemaker. In addition to the many home winemakers, Amphora has been installed in over 250 commercial wineries in 20 countries around the world.

Features

Database

Amphora incorporates the power of a full relational database management system.
Store and track virtuallly any winemaking variable.
Create any number of databases and switch between them to track multiple winery operations.
Database backups are automatically compressed to ZIP format for easy transfer to CD or other media.
Database can be queried directly using SQL to extract any possible information.
Amphora can access both local embedded databases and remote database servers* (*using Amphora Database Server).

Reports

Includes over 100 pre-defined reports.
Reports can be previewed in internal preview dialog or in Adobe Reader.
Save reports in PDF format.
Create a batch log in Adobe PDF format, complete with bookmarks.
Create a batch log in Excel XLS format.
Data is easily transferred to spreadsheets for custom reports or analysis.
Amphora can be integrated with OpenOffice allowing the creation of user-defined custom reports.
Automated creation of sales invoices and purchase orders.

Charts

Create sophisticated pie, line, and bar charts (2D or 3D) with a single click.
Customize chart appearance with user-defined colours, fonts, and more.
Print or save charts as image files (PNG) or Adobe PDF documents.

Container and Vineyard Maps

Create any number of data-aware visual map(s) of your winery(s) and vineyard(s).
Maps are completely user-defined to represent the actual layout of your winery or vineyard.
Data can be viewed/edited by interacting with the graphical map(s).

Cross Platform

Amphora will run on ANY operating system that supports Java™ (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and others).

Requirements

Amphora Wine Log will run on nearly all operating systems including Windows (Win2000 or greater), Linux, Mac OS X (10.4 or greater), and others. Amphora requires about 50 MB of free hard drive space and 256 MB or more of RAM is recommended.

Java: Amphora Wine Log uses the Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4.2 or higher. For convenience, the JRE is included with the Windows package. Mac OS X and Linux users should ensure their JRE version is 1.4.2 or higher. Click the image below to download the JRE (free).
Adobe Reader: Amphora has the ability to save reports and charts in PDF (portable document format). In order to view this format you will need Adobe Reader. Click the image below to download Adobe Reader (free).
OpenOffice Office Suite: Amphora includes many pre-defined reports. In addition, Amphora can be integrated with OpenOffice, providing the ability to create an unlimited variety of user-defined documents. OpenOffice is an office suite similar to Microsoft Office. Amphora uses several open source code libraries. Interested developers can download the source code.

Installation

Windows

Just click the downloaded file and follow the instructions.

Unix-like Systems (Linux, Mac OS X and others)

Unpack the archive: unzip amphora609trial.zip

Double click on install.jar and follow the instructions. If no file association is set up for jar files then the installer can be executed at the command line: java -jar install.jar

After installing, the application is started by clicking Amphora.jar or executing java -jar Amphora.jar on the command line.
